  2. in Underglaze Red
  3. Cheng-te period (A.D.
  4. 1506-1521)
  5. Ming Dynasty
  6. Diameter of mouth  7.7cm
  7.      This cup has a straight 
  8. mouth, a deep cavetto, a 
  9. slightly contracted belly, 
  10. and a flat base with a low 
  11. ring foot.  The bottom of 
  12. the ring foot is unglazed, 
  13. exposing the white body.  
  14. The base is inscribed with 
  15. the Cheng-te reign mark in 
  16. blue, written in two columns 
  17. within a double circle.  
  18. The vessel is painted with 
  19. the "three fruits" design 
  20. of pomegranate, peach and 
  21. plum.
