Cup with Three Fruits Decor
in Underglaze Red
Cheng-te period (A.D.
1506-1521)
Ming Dynasty
Diameter of mouth 7.7cm
This cup has a straight
mouth, a deep cavetto, a
slightly contracted belly,
and a flat base with a low
ring foot. The bottom of
the ring foot is unglazed,
exposing the white body.
The base is inscribed with
the Cheng-te reign mark in
blue, written in two columns
within a double circle.
The vessel is painted with
the "three fruits" design
of pomegranate, peach and
plum.
